The BellyFlush label — the front of it, which is all there is

Front-of-bottle photographs, eleven ingredient thumbnails, three ebook covers — and no photograph of the back, which is where a Supplement Facts panel is printed.

01

The front of the bottle

One BellyFlush bottle: a white jar with a navy and gold label under the Simple Promise mark, reading BELLYFLUSH, Detox and Cleanse, Gut and Colon Support, Reduces Occasional Bloating, Dietary Supplement, 60 CAPSULES, 30 Day Supply. This is the front. No photograph of the back of the bottle was supplied to this site.
The front of the BellyFlush bottle, cropped from the seller's own product photograph. The numbered points are this site's. There is no photograph of the back of this bottle in the pack, which is where the Supplement Facts panel is printed.
  1. 1
    Simple Promise

The brand mark on the front, with the line WE FOLLOW THE SCIENCE beneath it. No manufacturer address, distributor or contact detail appears anywhere on this face.

  2. 2
    BELLYFLUSH

The product name, with a trademark mark. The name is the most direct description of the mechanism anywhere on the bottle.

  3. 3
    Detox and Cleanse*

A structure-function phrase with an asterisk. The asterisk points to the FDA disclaimer sentence, which is not on this face and not anywhere else in this pack.

  4. 4
    Gut and Colon Support*

The second claim. Note what it does not say: it does not say laxative, and it does not say how the support is delivered.

  5. 5
    Reduces Occasional Bloating*

The most specific claim on the bottle, and the only one that a stimulant laxative would reliably produce — by a route the label never mentions.

  6. 6
    Dietary Supplement

The statement of identity, and the reason a Supplement Facts panel is required on this product at all.

  7. 7
    60 CAPSULES · 30 Day Supply

At the written pack's two capsules a night, that division is right: 60 capsules is thirty nights. It is also why the six-bottle pack is 180 nights.

  8. 8
    No caution on this face

No warning, no interaction line, no storage line, no keep-out-of-reach line and no duration-of-use limit. On a formula whose first three ingredients are stimulant laxatives, the last of those is the one to notice.

  9. 9
    And no ingredient list

Nothing on this face names a single ingredient. Everything this site knows about the contents comes from the written pack and from eleven captioned thumbnails, not from the bottle.

Every cell above is empty because no photograph of the back of this bottle was supplied to this site, and a Supplement Facts panel is printed on the back. The eleven names are the written pack's list, in its order, placed here to show the shape of the document that is missing. Nothing in this frame is a transcription, because there is nothing to transcribe.

Other Ingredients: not supplied. A capsule shell is made of gelatin or of a plant cellulose, and no line saying which was supplied here.

03

Seven things that follow

  1. 01
No Supplement Facts panel was supplied at all

The pack contains front-of-bottle photographs, eleven ingredient thumbnails and three bonus-ebook covers, and no photograph of the back of the bottle. 21 CFR 101.36 opens with the rule that the label of a dietary supplement that is offered for sale shall bear nutrition labeling in accordance with this regulation. This site cannot show you that labelling, because it was not supplied.

  2. 02
So no amount is declared for any of the eleven ingredients

Not one milligram figure appears anywhere in this pack. On a formula containing three stimulant laxatives, the amount is not a detail — it is the difference between a nudge and a purge.

  3. 03
And there is no way to tell whether they sit in a blend

If the eleven are declared as a proprietary blend, the panel carries a total and lists them in descending order of weight, and a reader can compute a ceiling for each. Without the photograph, even that is unavailable.

  4. 04
No duration-of-use limit is printed anywhere

Every over-the-counter senna laxative sold in the United States carries the warning do not use laxative products for longer than 1 week unless directed by a doctor. No supplied artwork for this product carries any limit at all, and the 6-bottle pack is a 180-day supply.

  5. 05
No caution about rectal bleeding, which is the standard one

The same OTC labels say to stop use and ask a doctor for rectal bleeding or failure to have a bowel movement after use of a laxative, because these may indicate a serious condition. Nothing supplied with this product says so.

  6. 06
No other-ingredients line and no allergen statement

A capsule shell is made of something. None of it was supplied.

  7. 07
One graphic in the pack is for a different product entirely

An animation of a detox foot pad was supplied with this capsule product. It is not published anywhere on this site, and the build fails rather than emitting it as an image.

None of these is a judgement about the capsule. They are statements about documents that are required to exist and were not supplied. A photograph of the back of the bottle would settle most of them, and this site would publish it the day it arrives.

What the rule actually says

21 CFR 101.36 is titled Nutrition labeling of dietary supplements. Its opening paragraph is one sentence: the label of a dietary supplement that is offered for sale shall bear nutrition labeling in accordance with this regulation. The section goes on to set the Supplement Facts heading, the serving size, the amount per serving column and the percentage of Daily Value column.

It also covers proprietary blends: where ingredients are declared as a blend, the figure given shall be the total weight of all other dietary ingredients contained in the proprietary blend, and the ingredients within it shall be declared in descending order of predominance by weight.

Where the FDA sentence is

The asterisks on the front of the bottle point to this sentence. The sentence itself is not on any artwork supplied to this site, and there is no photograph of the back of the bottle in which to look for it.

Three asterisks on the front of this bottle point at a sentence that is not in the pack. That sentence is required to appear on the label where a structure-function claim is made. Whether it does appear on this bottle is, again, a question only the missing photograph answers.

Four things to settle before you pay

Three packs were supplied with prices: $59, $49 and $33 a bottle. The things below are the ones a price does not settle.

  1. 01
Know that the first three ingredients are laxatives

Cascara sagrada, cape aloe and senna, in that order, open this formula. Nothing on the front of the bottle says so. If you were buying this for gut support rather than for a laxative effect, that is the fact to have before you pay.

  2. 02
Ask for a photograph of the back of the bottle

A Supplement Facts panel is printed on the back of every dietary supplement sold in the US. Without it you cannot know the serving size, any amount, whether the eleven sit in a blend, or what the capsule shell is made of. The order desk is on +1 (800) 390-6035.

  3. 03
Ask what the sennoside content is

That is the figure an over-the-counter senna laxative is required to declare — a US label says Sennosides 8.6 mg per tablet. This product declares nothing. It is the single most useful number nobody has.

  4. 04
Count the nights against the one-week warning

Every OTC senna label in the US warns do not use laxative products for longer than 1 week, unless directed by a doctor. The 6-bottle pack is 180 nights. If you intend to take it for longer than a week, that is the unless directed by a doctor clause, and it means asking one.
